Stephen Charles Page, Jr., Saxophone PDF Print E-mail
Described by noted American composer Libby Larsen as ‘fearless on stage,’ saxophonist Stephen Page has earned a Bachelor degree from the University of Minnesota studying with renowned teacher and pedagogue, Eugene Rousseau. In 2008, he received his Master of Music degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music studying with Dr. Otis Murphy, as recipient of the prestigious Marcel Mule scholarship, and as Associate Instructor of Saxophone. Currently, Stephen is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Iowa as a recipient of the Iowa Performance Fellowship, the most prestigious award within the School of Music. Mr. Page has won several international and national competitions, including the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition, and the AUREC Saxophone Competition. The Zzyzx Quartet, of which Stephen is a member, won 2nd place in the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition in 2008, and he was also named one of twenty semi-finalists in the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition in Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, Stephen has been named Finalist and Semi-finalist in over fifteen other solo and chamber music competitions countrywide.  Currently, Mr. Page is featured on two discs of the “Millennium Tribute to Adolphe Sax”, which include a live performance of Holy Roller by Libby Larsen and a live performance of Gavambodi 2 by Jaques Charpentier. His first solo album entitled Holy Roller is scheduled for release in late 2009, featuring works by Decruck, Larson, Feld, Charpentier, and Brandon.
