Mireille Asselin, Soprano PDF Print E-mail
Soprano Mireille Asselin is a second year candidate for a Master of Music degree at the prestigious Yale School of Music, studying with Doris Yarick-Cross.  In addition to her commitments at Yale Opera, Mireille anticipates an exciting 2009-2010 season, which will include appearances with Opera Hamilton (Adele in Die Fledermaus), the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra.  She will also return to her native Canada to perform the role of Servilia in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito with Opera Atelier in 2011. Ms. Asselin's roles with Yale Opera include Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, as well as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Sophie in Werther in scenes productions.  Her other recent appearances include the title role in Handel's Theodora with the San Diego Bach Collegium, Eve with the Yale Glee Club in Haydn’s The Creation, Adele in Die Fledermaus with Opera NUOVA, First Witch in Dido and Aeneas with Opera Atelier on their tour to Seoul, South Korea, Pamina in Magic Flute Diaries (a feature film by Sullivan Entertainment), and Joas in Handel's Athalia with the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme.

Equally at home on the concert stage as in the operatic medium, Ms. Asselin is a great proponent of new music, having participated in several world premieres and performing regularly in the New Music New Haven concert series at Yale University, as well as with the New Music Ensemble of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Mireille is also in the planning stages of a series of benefit concerts, in affiliation with the MS Society, to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis research, a cause that is close to her heart.  Ms. Asselin received her B.M. degree from The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
