Instrumentalists up to age 24 are pre-screened by tape. The finalists compete in front of judges who make their decision while the audience takes an intermission for refreshments.
First prize:
Cash award of $3,000 and a possible solo appearance with the ECSO
Second prize:
Cash award of $1,500
Third prize:
Cash award of $750

The Eastern Connecticut Symphony is pleased to announce the winners of the 48th Annual 2008 Instrumental Competition.
First Place:
Kwan Kyu Yi studying at Juilliard, will appear as the featured soloist January 24, 2009 with the ECSO performing Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 2.
Second Place:
Yoon Jung Han studying at the Curtis Institue of Music performed Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat Major.
Third Place:
Moran Katz studying at Juilliard performed Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A Major.
