Instrumentalists up to age 24 are pre-screened by tape. The finalists compete in front of judges who make their decision while the audience takes an intermission for refreshments.
First prize:
Cash award of $3,000 and a possible solo appearance with the ECSO
Second prize:
Cash award of $1,500
Third prize:
Cash award of $750

First Place:
Anna Jihyun Park, age 23, attended Juilliard, currently studying with Hyo Kang. She performed Elgar: Concerto for Violin
Second Place:
Andre J. Washington, age 21. He attends the Eastman School of Music and studies with Bonita Boyd. He performed Ibert: Concerto for Flute and Orchestra
Third Place:
Rolando Hernandez Gaitan, age 22, attends the University of Iowa and studies with Nicole Esposito. He performed Ibert: Concerto for Flute and Orchestra
