Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra Instrumental Competition PDF Print E-mail

Instrumentalists up to age 24 are pre-screened by tape. The finalists compete in front of judges who make their decision while the audience takes an intermission for refreshments.

First prize:

Cash award of $3,000 and a possible solo appearance with the ECSO

Second prize:

Cash award of $1,500

Third prize:
Cash award of $750


Tapes and application deadline: Friday, January 29, 2010.

Competition Finals: MARCH 14, 2010, AT 1:00 P.M., AT EVANS HALL ON THE CONNECTICUT COLLEGE CAMPUS. THEY ARE
 OPEN FREE TO THE PUBLIC. 

The Eastern Connecticut Symphony is pleased to announce the winners of the
50th Annual 2009 Instrumental Competition.

First Place:
Stephen Charles Page, Jr. age 24, a doctoral candidate at the University of Iowa performed Tomasi:  Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra

Second Place:
So Jin Kim age 23 currently attending Rice University in Houston, Texas performed Sibelius: Violin Concerto in D.

Third Place: 
Sarah Rommel age 19, cellist attending the Curtis Institute played Bloch: Schelomo
