The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus is an energetic group of auditioned volunteer singers who range in age from high school students to octogenarians, and currently boasts 87 members! The Chorus rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7pm - 9pm (unless otherwise noted) from September through April, at the First Congregational Church located at 66 Union Street in New London. The Chorus performs a minimum of two concerts annually. Concert dates for the 2011/2012 season are listed below.
AUDITIONS
Auditions for the 2012 spring semester are closed. Auditions for the 2012/2013 season will be held on September 12, 2012. Those wishing to audition should prepare a song of their choice, excluding show tunes. Examples of acceptable pieces are hymns, arias, or selections from other classical works. Interested singers should contact ECSC President Sheri Pellerin at to reserve an audition time. Those auditioning will be notified of the results of their audition prior to the first rehearsal on January 25th.
DUES - $65/year. Other costs include the musical scores and sheet music for each concert, and concert attire (women wear a 2-pc dress available for purchase through Stage Accents; men wear either a tuxedo or black suit, white shirt and black bow tie).
OUR CONCERTS
The ECSC Annual Holiday Concert was held on Saturday, December 17th at 8:00pm at Harkness Chapel on the Connecticut College campus. The concert program included Bach's Magnificat, Craig Courtney's A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas, carols by John Rutter, other seasonal favorites, and of course the traditional Carol Sing-Along with our audience!
On April 28th at 8:00pm at the Garde Arts Center, the ECSC joins the ECSO to perform Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony. Please contact the ECSO office for more information.
