Barbara Wiggin, Viola PDF Print E-mail

Ms. Barbara Wiggin has been a member of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra since 1993 and won the Principal Viola Position in 2000. In 2006, Ms. Wiggin appeared as a soloist with the ECSO performing Berlioz's "Harold In Italy". For the past ten years, she has been an active participant with the Hop River Chamber Players and performs frequently in chamber music and solo recitals throughout Connecticut. Ms. Wiggin plays in several other symphonies including Hartford and New Haven Symphony Orchestras.

Ms. Wiggin has served on the faculties of Wesleyan University, the Hartford Conservatory and the Music Mountain Chamber Music Festival.  Ms. Wiggin continues to mentor students as a visiting artist giving master classes and coaching ensembles in high schools all over Connecticut.

Ms. Wiggin received a Bachelor of Music from West Virginia University and a Master of Viola Performance from the University of Connecticut, where she combined an eclectic mix of genres showcasing her wide range of musical talent.  Her repertoire encompasses several musical styles as she performs not only Classical music but a mix of contemporary and rock.  She has continued throughout her career to foster this ever changing and organic approach to her craft.
